PROCESS

• Get in touch

Tell me about your project and what you're aiming for.

If you're still in the pre-production stage, check out my free PDF-guides in the Before We Start section. Got a quick question? Reach out any time, I will always answer those for free. If you would like me to do a deep dive into your actual songs, see the Pre-Production Audit.

• Send your tracks

Please check the File Prep Checklist before uploading.

• Pricing & Deposit

Once I have reviewed your material, I will provide the final quote for the project. The quoted price includes up to 3 rounds of revisions for ALL IN productions and 2 rounds for Raw Power tier, which is sufficient for the vast majority of projects.

A deposit is required before work begins, typically 40–50% of the total project cost. It secures your slot in the schedule and is non-refundable once your booking is confirmed — that time is reserved for you, and other projects may be turned away to keep it available. Genuine emergencies are the one exception; if something beyond your control prevents the project from moving forward, we can discuss the situation on a case-by-case basis.

The remaining balance is due after you approve the final result.

Payment methods are discussed on a case-by-case basis.

• First mix

I create the initial mix based on your material and references, always aiming for something that needs minimal changes. Turnaround is 4–5 days. For ALL IN EPs and albums, we start with two key tracks — establishing the sound uses one revision round max, with the remaining rounds saved for final balance once the whole record is mixed. With Raw Power, you get the first mix of the entire record in that same time window.

• Revisions

You send feedback, and we refine the mix together.

• Final delivery

You pay the remaining balance, and once received, I send you the master tracks.

SERVICES & RATES

• ALL IN (editing, mixing, mastering)

Single — $200 · EP (2–5 songs) — $150/song · Album (6+ songs) — from $130/song

3 revision rounds included

• Raw Power

For bands whose number one focus is live energy. Mixing and mastering — no editing, minimal automation, 100% true to how you played it.

Please note — I need to hear your band first to confirm it's a fit.

$50/song, $200 minimum per project · 2 revisions included

• Mastering

Single — $50 · EP (2–5 songs) — $40/song · Album (6+ songs) — from $30/song

Digital/CD or vinyl — same rates across formats. I will need you to provide unmastered mixes (full dynamic range) and tracklist info.

Please make no mistake — mastering the same songs for digital release and vinyl gets billed as two separate jobs.

• Pre-Production Audit

Tried to figure out why your favorite record sounds the way it does and ended up with nothing but useless fluff? Send me your references along with demos or rehearsal footage and describe the result you're aiming for. I'll break down the decisions that actually shape the sound of those tracks, help you tighten up your material, and choose the right studio and gear for your vision and your actual resources.

$50 + $10/track. Comes off the ALL IN price if you book within 4 months.

Notes:

Pricing depends on track count, average length, and overall complexity — a 90-second grind song can take longer than a 10-minute doom epic. Typical outliers (the one sludgy track on an otherwise fast record, the short joke song, intros/outros) get priced fairly, just flag them upfront. Additional revisions are available upon request.

BEFORE WE START

Bands run into the same questions again and again — before tracking and during it — and I've caught myself explaining the same things to different people more times than I can count. Left unanswered, those questions tend to turn into real problems that slow the process down and hurt the final result. So I decided to write these short guides. Reading them before we start working together is completely optional, and I'm not trying to present myself as a guru here — this is simply what 20 years of playing in bands, recording music, and working with artists have taught me. Take what's useful to you, skip the rest. If they help you spot weak points in your material, pick the right studio, avoid costly surprises at tracking, or just make the whole process less confusing — then they did their job.

ABOUT

My name is Sergey Alekseev. I'm a mixing and mastering engineer and musician with more than 15 years of experience.

Since joining my first band in early 2007, I've seen the music world from just about every angle: playing and singing on stage, running live sound, helping bands with songwriting and arrangements, building studios, recording albums, mixing and mastering records, booking tours, driving and fixing vans, loading gear and selling merch. Music has quite literally been my life.

In the late 2000s and early 2010s, like most hardcore bands in Russia at the time, my bands often ran into arrogant, dismissive studio staff and questionable competence — making it nearly impossible to get the kind of records we were after. This eventually led me into audio engineering.

Coming from a punk background, I care deeply about emotion, energy and individuality in music. As a fan of fast and heavy styles, I also care about clarity, density and power. As an engineer, I firmly believe it is possible to have both with zero compromise.

Most of the projects I work on fall within heavy guitar music — punk, hardcore, metal, grind and sludge. At the same time, I'm always open to other projects built around live drums.

My goal is to build a sonic bridge for every project — making sure its energy and character reach the listener exactly as they should.
